To promote Cozumel the Island of Peace; the local Government and the Committee of Sport Fishing opened to the public a Fishing Tournament that took place last Sunday August 23 2009 at the Fiscal Pier (downtown) . This tournament was named "The Fishing Tournament Island of Peace".
The tournament lasted for 9 hours starting from 8:00am and ending at 5:00pm. The money collected from the inscriptions was the reward for the first place as many other surprises that were given to the First place. The tournament was a success since 43 boats signed up for this competition.
The lucky boat who won the 44,000 pesos was the Cha, cha, cha with a Wahoo of 16.5 pounds that gave them a punctuation of 825. Paco Chan and Edmundo Torres won the 1st place of this tournament, the second place was for the boat "Makaira" of Enrique Sarro with a dorado of 22 pounds obtaining 660 points as well as the boat "Winning Ticket" of Michael Dennis Gerus. The "Fisha" of Vanda Zemkova and Silivia Martinez won the third place by presenting a saw fish of 16.5 pounds that gave them 660 points.
From now on, the arrival of the boat "Zamna" will be celebrated. This boat will sail away this August 26th to 13 different countries in America and Europe.
